The artistic creation of John Rash went through documentary photography, installation art and film production who were graduated from Duke University and now lives in China. Rooting in   his creative idea and style of the cross-border cooperation of picture photography and film, his film camera language can be considered for multi-level extension of image photography of in time and space. In work of Rash, he succeeds in try and innovation of the different elements of art. John Rash’s picture language successfully reprised his understanding of the different regional culture.

John Rash’s "Demolition" showed the influence of the appearance of modernization of Chongqing along the Yangtze River. He put the camera focused on the old city’s vicissitudes, vividly reflected huge change of the local residents. After a year of filming, Rash build a visual dialogue with this reconstruction community, alluding to the city modernization not only widened the gap of living standards, at the same time caused the profound thinking of shock to the traditional culture.

 John Rash combined photography with video, two different visual expressions, reflecting his thinking and understanding of contemporary photography picture video creation. In the other video clips, he used realistic technique combined with abstract aesthetic concept, with a beautiful black and white image, vividly recording an ukiyoe about contemporary China's Yangtze River, night, city and the crowd.
